Mayfair has always been widely known as London’s most exclusive commercial district.
The name ‘Mayfair’ even originates from a 15-day long fair that was held in the district every year.
This annual fete would see the expanse of farmland – now known as Mayfair – become a bustling marketplace full of livestock. Before long the fair was supplemented by hordes of jugglers, gamblers and the spians, providing a more raucous atmosphere.
